Bryan Singer considers Footballers' Wives

4 stars out of 5.0
Hollywood director Bryan Singer looks set to take the helm of a new television series pilot based on the British show, Footballers' Wives.

Singer, who recently headed up Superman Returns and brought the super hero back on to cinema screens, is reportedly going to direct the first episode of the show, which will use the setting of American football as opposed to British soccer.

Yet it is arguably something of a change in tone for Singer, who shot to fame in 1995 with the mind-bending thriller The Usual Suspects. The movie, which stars Kevin Spacey and Gabriel Byrne, is a twisty, complicated story of five criminals and one line-up.

The director also made the first instalment of the X-Men series along with its sequel, X2, before handing over the reins to Brett Ratner for X-Men 3: The Last Stand.

In addition, he serves as executive producer on American medical drama series House M.D, starring Brit actor Hugh Laurie as a doctor who often uses unorthodox methods to solve odd medial cases.
