Mr and Mrs Smith set for TV adaptation

Mr And Mrs Smith, the film which famously united Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie for the first time, is to be made into a television series.

Although neither will star in the adaptation, the original writer and director are signed on to remake the assassin-themed comedy for the small screen, reports Empire.

Simon Kinberg, who penned the film, is to return, as is Doug Liman who will produce. Liman's varied CV has a mixture of film and television projects - the most recent success being glamorous teen drama The O.C.

He began his career with cult hit Swingers and followed this with multi-storied comedy-drama Go. In addition to producing Mr and Mrs Smith for television, Liman is currently focused on The Bourne Ultimatum, which follows spy Jason Bourne as the franchise continues.

Since making the movie, Brad and Angelina have since become parents to a baby daughter, Shiloh Nouvel.
