Colin Farrell set to make Dirt Music

3 stars out of 5.0
Irish actor Colin Farrell has joined the cast of forthcoming drama Dirt Music, which has already secured Rachel Weisz as its lead character.

The film is based on a novel by Tim Winton, telling the story of a bored housewife in a remote Australian village who becomes embroiled with a local fisherman.

Set to start filming in August, Dirt Music is to be directed by Philip Noyce, who took the helm of thrillers such as The Bone Collector and Clear and Present Danger.

Farrell could be set for success in the role of the mysterious stranger with whom Weisz becomes interested, after displaying his versatility in films such as Phone Booth and Minority Report.

He also recently starred in summer blockbuster Miami Vice, playing Crockett opposite Jamie Foxx's Tubbs - a detective duo who go undercover to break up a narcotics trafficking network.

However, despite the actor's Hollywood CV, he began his acting career in BBC drama Ballykissangel, a television series following a fictional priest's transfer to a small Irish village's parish.
