Weaver confirmed for new Cameron film

4 stars out of 5.0
Fans of Aliens might be excited to hear that director James Cameron and xenomorph-kicking heroine Sigourney Weaver are set to reunite for a new science-fiction thriller.

Avatar, which has also been written by Titanic director Cameron, is to star Weaver in the role of Grace, reports Aintitcool.com.

And although the film has yet to be fully cast, virtual photography is due to start in April with a release date sometime in 2009.

Of course, it is not the first time that the director has veered into science-fiction territory; The Abyss and Aliens both proved widely popular and his action films such as The Terminator and Terminator 2: Judgement Day fared the same.

After Ridley Scott began the Alien saga, Cameron took the series towards the explosive, shoot-em-up genre as Weaver's character Ellen Ripley is sent back to the Alien planet LV-426 with a group of marines.

The third chapter, Alien 3, was darker in tone and featured the signature style of Fight Club director David Fincher.
