Eckhart to join Ledger and Bale as Two-Face

Aaron Eckhart is to play Harvey "Two Face" Dent in the sequel to Batman Begins, it was announced today, joining Christian Bale as the pointy-eared superhero and Heath Ledger as The Joker.

Yesterday brought the news that casting for The Dark Knight, which is set for release in July, could bring Maggie Gyllenhaal to the picture as Batman's love interest, Rachel Dawes.

But the casting of Eckhart, according to the Hollywood Reporter, is sure to set fans' tongues wagging as it specifically notes that before lawyer Dent becomes Two Face, he is an ally of the caped crusader, until his face is disfigured by acid and he uses the flip of a coin to decide whether to do good or evil.

The actor has played a diverse range of roles in a number of hit movies, featuring in dramas such as Erin Brockovich and The Core while recently starring as a tobacco company's spokesperson, Nick Naylor, in the satirical comedy Thank You for Smoking.
