Beckinsale signs up for "weighty drama"

Underworld star Kate Beckinsale is the latest A-lister to sign up to an upcoming feature due to hit the silver screen in 2008.

The Hollywood star, seen in films including The Aviator, Van Helsing and Click will be starring in Winged Creatures alongside an acclaimed line up of well known faces.

These include child star Dakota Fanning, who starred alongside Tom Cruise in War Of The Worlds, cult favourite Guy Pearce and Forest Whitaker, who recently bagged Golden Globe glory for The Last King Of Scotland.

Adapted from a novel by Roy Frierich, Winged Creatures will be directed by Rowan Woods, who recently worked with Ewan Macgregor in the surreal fantasy Little Fish.

The film tracks the story of a group of strangers who survive a random shooting, with dramatic consequences.

Details are thin on the ground at the moment but production on Winged Creatures is due to start next month.
