Hot Fuzz hits UK top spot
Action comedy Hot Fuzz smashed into the top of the UK box office this week, generating a total of £5.92 million and outperforming Charlotte's Web which was pushed into second place.The chart, compiled by ACNeilson EDI, saw Music And Lyrics, starring Hugh Grant as a has-been singer, at number three and Epic Movie in fourth place. Because I Said So, the romantic comedy featuring Diane Keaton and Mandy Moore, debuted in ninth place, while Blood Diamond remained the longest-running film in the top ten, spending its fourth week at number six. Musical drama Dreamgirls hung in at number ten, although the film could see an increase in popularity if it wins awards at this Sunday's Oscar ceremony. Similarly, Notes On A Scandal - which is nominated for four of the coveted golden statuettes - may go back up the chart from this weeks' number seven position if it takes home any prizes.
