3 stars out of 5.0
Rapper-turned-actor Ice Cube is set to avoid Saturday altogether when he stars in First Sunday, a new project to be directed by a playwright called David E. Talbert.

Fans of the former NWA star will know that Ice Cube previously starred in the comedy trilogy Friday, Next Friday and Friday After Next, and Variety reports that First Sunday will be an "urban-themed comedy".

Of course, Ice Cube has used his acting chops in action and dramatic roles too, beginning his screen career with coming-of-age tale Boyz n the Hood, which also starred Laurence Fishburne and Cuba Gooding Jr.

In addition. he took over from Vin Diesel as special agent Triple X in xXx: State of The Union, while starring alongside George Clooney in Three Kings, a comedy drama about American soldiers in the aftermath of the Gulf War.

Ice Cube can next be seen on cinema screens in family comedy Are We Done Yet, which is scheduled for release in June.
