M. Night Shyamalan lines up next project

4 stars out of 5.0
The director of The Sixth Sense and Signs has announced his next project which he wrote and will make in time for a summer 2008 release.

Variety reports that M. Night Shyamalan will be working on a thriller entitled The Happening, about a family who go on the run from a humanity-threatening crisis.

And although no other details about the plot were released, it looks to be in the same vein as a number of his other films, featuring regular people who are haunted by seemingly paranormal or unusual activity.

The Sixth Sense told the story of a young boy who could see dead people and ended with one of the biggest twists audiences may not have seen coming, while Signs was a chilling tale of a family who believe they are under attack from aliens.

Shyamalan's latest film, Lady in the Water, featured Bryce Dallas Howard (soon to be seen in Spider-Man 3) as a water nymph who escapes from a bedtime story and attempts to find her way back home.
