Half-termers hooked by Shark TaleFor a second week running the fishy gangster tale heads up the top ten. After taking £7.5 million in its first three days, the animation has continued strongly, reeling in £3.2 million last weekend. The newest cartoon from Dreamworks features the voices of Robert De Niro and Will Smith and has already proved a hit in the US, spending three weeks at the top. Its takings at the French box office were also strong, with £1.5 million helping to bring its total overseas earnings to £42 million. However, in the UK Shark Tale is likely to see stiff opposition from the sci-fi thriller Alien Vs Predator. It opened last week at number two, taking £2 million. Alfie, the Michael Caine classic re-make and The Princess Diaries 2 came in third and fourth with £1.3 million and £0.7 million respectively. Elsewhere in Europe half term week saw The Bourne Supremacy at the top in Germany, I, Robot beating off competition in Italy, and The Forgotten reigning supreme in Spain.
