Grey's Anatomy star lines up movie projects

Grey's Anatomy actress Katherine Heigl is set to branch out from the dramatic medical series with a romantic comedy scheduled for filming this summer.

Although she is still starring as Dr Izzie Stevens in the popular show, Heigl will play a serial wife in 27 Dresses, about a woman who has walked up the aisle with no less than 27 men, reports Variety.

But when she is asked to be the bridesmaid for her sister, there is a slight problem - she is completely in love with the groom.

The movie could be an effective showcase of Heigl's comedic talents, given that many of her roles to date are based in the dramatic genre.

After various bit parts in television and film, the actress shot to fame in short-lived cult television show Roswell, which told the story of four teenagers who struggle to hide the fact they originate from somewhere very far from Earth.
