Bean tops the chart before Easter weekend

3 stars out of 5.0
Comedy sequel Mr Bean's Holiday has reached the top of the UK box office chart in its first week of release, totalling over £6.4 million in ticket sales, according to ACNielsen.

But while the rubber-faced funnyman, played by Rowan Atkinson, may enjoy the top spot, he may have to contend with two releases scheduled for this weekend which could see Easter holidaymakers flocking to cinemas.

Sunshine and Blades Of Glory are due to hit the big screen tomorrow; the first is a science fiction thriller starring Cillian Murphy and the second is a figure skating-themed comedy featuring Will Ferrell and Jon Heder.

However, the chart for the week starting March 30th saw another three new entries take spots in the top ten, alongside Hot Fuzz which hangs on at number nine in its seventh week of release.

Meet The Robinsons debuted in third place while The Hills Have Eyes II followed in fourth, with the lowest-placed new entry, The Last Mimzy, coming in tenth place.
