Witherspoon to develop murder movie

Reese Witherspoon's production company Type A Films is to develop a movie adaptation of a real-life account detailing a high school murder, it has emerged.

The book, released in 1997, details events surrounding the killing of a Canadian student and the following investigation into the crime.

Although there is no word on whether Witherspoon will star in the film, she may take on a production role, according to the Guardian.

The actress, who received the Oscar for best actress when she portrayed June Carter in last year's Walk The Line, previously worked as executive producer on Legally Blonde 2: Red, White & Blonde, in which she reprised the role of Elle Woods.

Meanwhile, another recent film starring Reese is currently out to rent on DVD.

Just Like Heaven is a light-hearted comedy romance, featuring Mark Ruffalo as a man who falls in love with the ghost of his apartment's previous resident.
