4 stars out of 5.0
Samuel L Jackson, whose career was launched by Quentin Tarantino's Pulp Fiction, is reportedly in talks to play the evil nemesis in an upcoming adaptation of graphic novel The Spirit.

The film is to be directed by comics writer Frank Miller, who previous co-directed Sin City, which starred Bruce Willis, Elijah Wood and Jessica Alba.

In The Spirit, Jackson would be playing the part of The Octopus, a shy lab assistant who tries to kill anyone who catches a glimpse of his face.

As for the role of the hero, an ambitious cop named Denny Colt who is transformed into crime-fighter The Spirit, no clues have yet emerged and Miller is said to be considering several possibilities.

Jackson, whose most recent box office hit was Snakes On A Plane, has also recently starred with Christina Ricci and Justin Timberlake in Black Snake Moan, a Tennessee-set drama which was released in the UK on May 18th.
