The Ring Two director announces new project

Japanese movie director Hideo Nakata is to team up with Taka Ichise - the producer of horror remake The Grudge - for a new project entitled Inhuman.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, the film is based on a real-life murder case and could be in the same terrifying vein as The Ring Two, which Nakata previously directed.

The two are veterans of the horror genre; Ichise includes production credits for the originals and remakes of The Grudge, while he also helped to write the screenplay for supernatural thriller Dark Water.

Meanwhile, Nakata directed the 1998 Japanese version of The Ring and is set to helm the third instalment of the series which is scheduled for release this year.

The Ring - entitled Ringu in Japan - brought a new genre of horror upon its release, telling the creepy story of a videotape which leaves its viewers mysteriously dead exactly one week after watching it.
