Carrey signs on for prison film
Reports have placed Carrey as the lead character in the film I Love You Philip Morris, a movie based on a book based on true events by Houston Chronicle journalist Steve McVicker.
The independent film, which according to the Guardian carries a total budget of $20 million, is being directed by Glenn Ficarra and John Requa, the men who wrote the 2003 film Bad Santa.
Carrey's most recent cinematic release saw him change genres from his more well-known type, shedding the comedy characteristics that shone in Dumb And Dumber and Me, Myself And Irene, to play a more serious role in The Number 23.
According to the Guardian, Carrey must have also taken a cut in pay to be involved in the new production, as he is believed to command a fee in the region of $20 million per film.
