British actor Paul Bettany and Spider-Man star Kirsten Dunst were among the celebrities at the UK premiere of Wimbledon last night.

The glitzy event in Leicester Square comes ahead of the romantic comedy's general release later this week.

Dunst stars as the golden girl of American tennis, distracted from her goal of winning Wimbledon by her fling with British outsider, Paul Bettany.

Bettany, who appeared alongside Russell Crowe in Master and Commander and Heath Ledger in A Knight's Tale, admitted that he found the action scenes challenging.

The film has been criticised for being unrealistic, but it does promise some much-needed Brit flick feel good moments after a summer dominated by Hollywood blockbusters.
