New Jessica Simpson movie cast

A new comedy starring Jessica Simpson has four new additions to the cast and is set to start shooting this week, it has been announced.

Major Movie Star is to feature Simpson as an actress who enlists in the army after discovering her boyfriend is gay and her accountant has swindled her out of money, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

However, she is not in for an easy ride, with a scary training officer and controlling agent all trying to make things more difficult for her.

Vivica A Fox has been cast as the officer, while Police Academy legend Steve Guttenberg will play Simpson's agent.

In addition, Cheri Oteri - who fans might recognise from Scary Movie - is set to star as a rival army recruit, with US TV star Ryan Sypek rounding off the cast as a sergeant whom Simpson's character falls for.

Although she started out as a singer, Jessica Simpson is known to many for her reality series, Newlyweds: Nick & Jessica.

However, she has since starred in comedy fare such as the Dukes Of Hazzard remake and last year's Employee Of The Month.
