4 stars out of 5.0
A forthcoming film starring Sex and the City actress Sarah Jessica Parker is to open a US conference on race, it emerged this week.

Spinning Into Butter stars Parker as a college dean who becomes embroiled in an investigation into a racial crime. She also produced the movie.

According to Variety, the film's theme has made it the opener of the National Conference on Race, Reparation and Reconciliation, scheduled for September in the US state of Georgia.

"There's a frankness in the movie that I've never seen before about race," said Clarence Jones - a former adviser to Martin Luther King Jr and the founder of the event.

The film, which also stars Beau Bridges and Miranda Richardson, does not have a UK release date as yet, although Parker has a number of other projects both in the pipeline and available to rent on DVD.

She most recently starred in Failure to Launch - a romantic comedy featuring Matthew McConaughey - and also acted alongside Claire Danes and Diane Keaton in The Family Stone.
