New Angelina Jolie film reviewed

3 stars out of 5.0
The latest offering from Angelina Jolie has been reviewed and the actress has received praise for her role as real-life character Mariane Pearl, whose husband was beheaded by terrorists in 2002.

A Mighty Heart, the Guardian explained, includes a "potent performance" from Jolie, who is described as a "brilliant actress" by the newspaper.

The film is directed by Michael Winterbottom and is a return to more serious fare for Jolie, after her gun-toting appearance in Mr And Mrs Smith and voicing a character in animated comedy Shark Tale.

Also starring Dan Futternman, A Mighty Heart follows the story of Mariane as she awaits her husband's fate. The movie is set for release in the UK on September 21st.

Michael Winterbottom's documentary style of filmmaking is also on offer from a number of other titles currently out to rent on DVD, including Steve Coogan's A Cock and Bull Story, sci-fi thriller Code 46 and Manchester-themed 24 Hour Party People.
