Sneak Batman snippet played to fans

5 stars out of 5.0
A sneak preview of forthcoming Batman sequel The Dark Knight has been shown to a lucky audience at the Wizard World Chicago convention - and the signs look promising for what should be a spectacular return for the caped crusader.

Following the success of Batman Begins, the cast and crew are back - this time with a new foe in the form of The Joker, played by Heath Ledger.

Wizard Universe's website detailed the film clip, which was only shown once and accompanied by appearances from stars of the movie.

Highlights from the trailer included a shot of the new batsuit, Batman And The Joker fighting, lots of the Batmobile and new two-wheeled Batpod - plus a hint at when audiences can expect to see lawyer Harvey Dent become his evil alter ego Two-Face.

The Dark Knight is directed by Christopher Nolan, whose previous work focuses on non-linear storytelling and a range of baffling and mysterious circumstances.

His most recent film, The Prestige, starred Hugh Jackman and Christian Bale as 19th century magicians trapped in a war of rivalry and the desire to out-trick each other.

Earlier work includes the must-see mind-bender Memento, in which Guy Pearce attempts to piece together fragments of memory and find his wife's killer.
