Rush Hour 3 debuts at number one

4 stars out of 5.0
The UK box office chart was shaken up this week after The Simpsons Movie's previous reign at the top.

Rush Hour 3, starring Chris Tucker and Jackie Chan, was the highest new entry in the top ten, stealing the number one place from Springfield's favourite family.

Compiled by AC Nielsen, the chart for the week beginning August 10th saw The Simpsons Movie pushed into second place followed by Transformers and family blockbuster Harry Potter and the Order of The Phoenix.

Steve Carell sequel Evan Almighty reached number five, while Hairspray - a musical starring John Travolta as a middle-aged mum, took sixth place.

Slots seven and eight were occupied by new entries Surf's Up and License to Wed. Surf's Up is a penguin-themed animated comedy while License to Wed sees Robin Williams put a spanner in the works of a forthcoming marriage between Mandy Moore and John Krasinski.

Meanwhile, the chart's longest runner Shrek the Third reached number nine after seven weeks of release, followed by Indian romance Chak de India.
