Dallas movie gets another director

3 stars out of 5.0
The movie remake of long-running television drama Dallas is now to be directed by Betty Thomas, following the replacement of two previous directors and numerous cast changes.

According to Empire Online, Thomas - who was responsible for The Brady Bunch Movie, Dr Doolittle and I Spy - will take on the project despite it being mostly without a cast and in the middle of script rewrites.

John Travolta has been attached to the film recently, as a possible JR Ewing, while Jennifer Lopez was originally rumoured to play Sue Ellen.

However, nothing appears certain at the moment so it could be a while before the film hits UK cinemas.

The television show first started in 1978 and centred on a wealthy and scheming oil baron - JR Ewing - played by a Stetson-wearing Larry Hagman.

It included an intriguing "Who Shot JR?" plotline during its run, in addition to an entire season turning out to be a dream of one of the characters who was previously presumed dead.
