Jennifer Hudson to join Sex and the City

Dreamgirls star Jennifer Hudson is set to join the cast of the forthcoming Sex and the City movie, it emerged today.

The singer-turned-actress, who shot to fame as a contestant on reality show American Idol, is to play the personal assistant to Carrie Bradshaw in the film due to start production in New York next week.

And it will be her third acting job to date, after a recent role in Winged Creatures and her debut in Dreamgirls which netted her this year's Oscar for best supporting actress.

Fans of Sex and the City are sure to be excited about the movie adaptation of the hit show, which finished its six-year run in 2004.

All four of the main cast are back for the big-screen version, including Sarah Jessica Parker who plays Carrie and Kim Cattrall who stars as man-eater Samantha, while the character of Mr Big is also set to appear.
