Roald Dahl fans may be intrigued to hear that George Clooney is to voice the title character in a forthcoming animated adaptation of the classic book, The Fantastic Mr Fox.

Wes Anderson - the director of films such as Rushmore and The Royal Tenenbaums - is to make the movie using stop-motion techniques and told MTV of his casting plans.

"George Clooney is going to be Mr Fox. Bill Murray has a part," he divulged. "Jason [Schwartzman] is doing a voice. That's our team."

The Fantastic Mr Fox is one of a line of movies involving a collaboration between Murray and Anderson, following the aforementioned films, The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou and upcoming release The Darjeeling Limited.

According to the Internet Movie Database, Cate Blanchett is to voice Clooney's partner, Mrs Fox, while Anjelica Huston is in talks to join the cast.

A co-writer on the screenplay is Noah Baumbach, who recently scripted and directed the touching drama The Squid and the Whale.
