Taxi Driver and Dirty Harry top one-liner poll

A survey to find the most memorable movie one-liners has resulted in a top ten consisting of quotes from Taxi Driver, Dirty Harry, Forrest Gump and Jerry Maguire, among others.

Boston-based company Brigham's Ice Cream this week announced its inaugural poll to find the most famous one-liners and is now asking the public to choose its favourite from a shortlist of ten.

Included are classics such as "you're gonna need a bigger boat" from Jaws, "you can't handle the truth" from A Few Good Men and the awesome "I'll be back", as uttered by the murderous cyborg in The Terminator.

Also listed are "I'll have what she's having" in When Harry Met Sally, "go ahead, make my day" from Dirty Harry and the famous "are you talkin' to me" as asked by Robert De Niro's Travis Bickle in 1976 drama Taxi Driver.

"Sometimes it takes only a word, or just a few, to become immortalised in film and television history," said Brigham's chief executive officer Chuck Green.

Meanwhile, other movie data unveiled this week saw Run, Fat Boy Run reach the top of the UK box office chart, while number one across the pond was Resident Evil: Extinction.
