Coppola: Thieves took 15 years' worth of work

5 stars out of 5.0
Francis Ford Coppola lost 15 years' worth of work when thieves stole his laptop computer last week, it emerged this weekend.

Following the news that a gang broke into his Argentine production office last Wednesday and took camera equipment and other electronic items, it was thought that a draft of Coppola's script for upcoming film Tetro was on the device.

However, the director of The Godfather told Argentine broadcaster Todd Noticias that it also contained family photographs and other writings totalling years of effort.

"If I could get the backup back, it would save me years [of] all the photographs of my family, all my writing … they got all our data, many years of work," he said.

Tetro, which is set to star Matt Dillon, is due to start filming in the early part of 2008 and tells the story of an Italian family who immigrate to Argentina.
