Short Circuit's Ben 'to join Lost'

The man who played Johnny 5's sidekick in the classic Short Circuit movies is set to join the cast of hit TV show Lost, it has been revealed.

Fisher Stevens, who starred as Ben in the 1980s robot-themed films, has been tapped to take on the role of Minkowski in the fourth series of the mystery drama, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

Minkowski has only ever been heard and not seen, featuring in the last episode of season three when he gives a message to the survivors of flight 815 on the telephone.

Since accompanying Johnny 5 in Short Circuit and Short Circuit 2, Stevens has featured in a number of television shows but also gone behind the camera to produce and direct films, such as the recent romantic comedy Wedding Daze.

However, fans of Friends may recognise him from an early episode where he played the psychiatrist Roger - a rather unpopular boyfriend of Phoebe.
