Pine and Urban the latest to join Star Trek crew

Two more actors - Chris Pine and Karl Urban - have joined the ever-expanding list of cast members for the latest Star Trek film, set to hit screens in the US at Christmas 2008.

According to reports, Lord Of The Rings actor Urban will play Leonard 'Bones' McCoy, while the lesser-known Pine will star as Captain Kirk, the role made famous by William Shatner.

The movie will reportedly chart the early days of the Enterprise, with Pine - who starred alongside Lindsay Lohan in 2006's Just My Luck - playing a young version of Captain Kirk.

News of the two additions to the cast follow this week's revelation that Simon Pegg, of Shaun Of The Dead and Hot Fuzz fame, would be playing the part of Scotty in the film.

The film will be directed by JJ Abrams, the man behind the camera of TV series Lost, and will film from November to March.
