Edgar Wright 'pained' by Spaced remakeWright, who went on to direct Hot Fuzz and Shaun Of The Dead after two seasons of the sitcom, responded to reports that The OC crew member McG will recreate Spaced for a US audience. He said not only would it be "a [sic] insult to the fans" if he supported the new show, but he put his "heart and soul" into the original and was not even asked for permission before the remake was announced. "I am deeply pained that people think I've sold out and am whoring out our baby to a big network for a pile of dirty cash," he wrote this weekend. "This could not be further from the truth." Fans of Spaced may be wary of anyone trying to resurrect the series, which starred Simon Pegg, Nick Frost and Jessica Stevenson. McG, however, has previously produced or directed a host of Hollywood hits, including Supernatural, Charlie's Angels and The Pussycat Dolls Present: The Search for the Next Doll.
