Beowulf premieres in LA

Fantasy epic Beowulf premiered in LA this week ahead of its worldwide release this month.

The movie, based on the legendary poem, stars Angelina Jolie, Gerard Butler and Ray Winstone, among many other famous faces.

Most of the cast attended the premiere, including Anthony Hopkins, who plays King Hrothgar and Alison Lohman, who stars as Ursula, while other celebs such as Brad Pitt and Nicollette Sheridan also turned out to watch the film.

Beowulf uses a specific motion capture technique to alter the images onscreen, so each character was filmed on a stage and animated differently in post-production.

The story follows a young man, Beowulf (played by Winstone), who attempt to free Heorot of the terrifying Grendel - but ends up meeting Grendel's mother and fighting both, before a third battle against a dragon.

The movie is due out in the UK on November 16th.
