Romantic comedy Good Luck Chuck has debuted at number one in the UK box office chart following its release last week.

The movie, which stars Jessica Alba and Dane Cook, centres on a young man who seems to be a good-luck charm as every woman he dates goes on to find their true love.

Taking a weekend total of more than £1.3 million, according to AC Nielsen, the film moved Stardust into second place and Ratatouille into third.

Cate Blanchett in Elizabeth: The Golden Age occupied number four, with gory vampire horror film 30 Days Of Night at number five.

Meanwhile, three new entries debuted at six, seven and ten respectively - Tom Cruise''s political drama Lions for Lambs was followed by Om Shanti Om, with Into The Wild at ten.
