The top 100 films of 2007?

3 stars out of 5.0
It is nearing the end of the year and the Times has compiled a list of what it believes to be the best movies of 2007.

The newspaper split its choices into those receiving five stars out of five, four stars, three stars and so on.

Top of the pile with five stars was Babel, which James Christopher described as "a stunning piece of cinema", alongside Blade Runner: The Final Cut and 4 Months, 3 Weeks & 2 Days.

Four stars were awarded to titles such as 300, 3:10 to Yuma, Alpha Dog, Atonement, Half Nelson and Hallam Foe, while new DVD release Hairspray was also mentioned.

David Fincher's murder mystery Zodiac was in the four-star category, with Cosmo Landesman opining: "So appealing are its characters and the performances of the cast, so we become participants in a riveting jigsaw puzzle."

Blades of Glory, Death Proof and Die Hard 4.0 were among those given three stars, as are Tell No One, This is England, Two Days in Paris and The Upside Of Anger.
