Return of the webslinger

Spider-Man 2 is set to take cinemas up and down the country by storm this weekend.

The blockbuster sequel to Sam Raimi's 2002 hit sees Tobey Maguire return as the friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man.

After spending much of the first movie setting the scene, Spider-Man 2 sees our hero doing battle with the legendary super-villain, Dr Octopus.

The movie has held on to the top spot in the US two weeks after its release taking more than £140 million.

Spider-Man 2 had its UK premiere in London's Leicester Square this week, with Maguire joining co-star Kirsten Dunst on the red carpet.

Work has already begun on a third instalment of what promises to be one of the most valuable superhero franchises of all time.
