Flight Of The Conchords co-creator Jemaine Clement has reportedly joined the cast of Gentleman Broncos, a new comedy from Napoleon Dynamite director Jared Hess.

Clement, whose cult show centres on two Australian musicians living in New York, will join up with Michael Angarano and Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy star Sam Rockwell for the film, which begins production in March, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

The script, which was written by Hess and his wife, is said to focus on a high school writer who has a story stolen by leading fantasy novelist.

Angarano, whose other credits include Almost Famous and 24, will play the aggrieved teenage wordsmith, while Confessions Of A Dangerous Mind star Rockwell will play his storybook hero.

It is a change of pace for Rockwell who has recently finished worked on Ron Howard's adaptation of Frost/Nixon, a dramatic re-telling of the 1977 post-Watergate interviews between David Frost and Richard Nixon.
