Lost star lands lead

Lord of the Rings, Lost and, yes, Hetty Wainthropp Investigates star Dominic Monaghan will take the lead in Pet, a new psychological thriller for MGM, according to industry reports.

He will play a man who becomes obsessed with his former high school sweetheart after a meeting her again by chance but then suspects she is not who she appears to be, the Hollywood Reporter says.

Monaghan is also set to appear as a grave robber alongside Hellboy and Enemy at the Gates actor Ron Pearlman in the upcoming Victorian zombie flick I Sell the Dead.

Pet is scheduled to start shooting in the next few months, the paper says, with Edna McCallion directing.

Monaghan previously played Shire hobbit Merry in all three instalments of The Lord of the Rings trilogy and he is currently appearing in the new series of Lost, which debuted in the US earlier this week.
