Carry on scriptingÂ…

After something of a carry on of its own, the script for a new Carry On film - tentatively titled Carry On London - has reportedly been signed off.

The BBC says the film, which will be the 32nd instalment of Carry On's brand of camp comedy, focuses on a luxury limousine company as it ferries celebrities to a UK version of the Oscars - wait for it - the Herberts.

It adds that former EastEnder and Extras sidekick Shaun Williamson had originally been attached to lead the first Carry On since 1992's Carry On Columbus - playing a limo driver called Dickie Ticker - but he pulled out after a change of producer.

Vinnie Jones (Lock, Stock & Two Smoking Barrels, Gone In Sixty Seconds), Shane Ritchie (Flushed Away) and Daniella Westbrook have also been linked with the project in the past.

Casting for the new film is expected to be finalised in the new year, with a spokeswoman telling the BBC there will be some star cameos to look out for.

The film is tentatively scheduled for a 2008 release to coincide with the 50th anniversary of the release of 1958's Carry On Sergeant.

The 31 Carry On films became a British institution, making household names of Sid James, Kenneth Williams, Barbara Windsor and Charles Hawtree.
