Hi-ho Silver, again! It is reported that Ted Elliott and Terry Rossio, part of the writing team behind the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, are due to sign up for a new big screen adaptation of the popular character. Disney is said to be behind the project as well as blockbuster movie and television kingpin Jerry Bruckheimer and Entertainment Rights. Script details have yet to be announced, but the Classic Media owned property will be able to draw on a rich back catalogue of comic books, movie serials and TV shows that made the character a household name from the 1930's onwards. The hero of the story is Butch Cavendish, the surviving member of a group of Texas Rangers ambushed and left for dead by a gang of outlaws. His body is later found by Tonto, a native American, and the pair set out on a mission to bring the criminals to justice. The last outing for the masked hero was 2003, when Chad Michael Murray saddled up for a TV version helmed by Lost director Jack Bender.
