It's time to get things started on new Muppet movie

The world's most sensational, inspirational crew of madcap misfits, The Muppets, are to reunite for a new big screen adventure co-written by Knocked Up star Jason Segel.

Segel, part of Judd Apatow's growing crew of Hollywood hot properties, will work with director Nicholas Stroller on the film, according to movie blog Chud.

In an exclusive interview with Empire magazine, Segel said the new movie will follow a "classic" Muppets story, as the gang have to reunite to save the show from evil ne'er-do-wells.

"It's going to take place all over the world," he said, adding that Gonzo, who discovered he was an alien in 1999's Muppets From Space, might be knocking about in the cosmos when the film starts.

Segel added that every time he mentions the project to actors - such as Family Guy's Mila Kunis and fellow Knocked Up-ers Seth Rogen and Jonah Hill - they beg him to write a part for them.

The Muppets first hit the big screen in 1979's The Muppet Movie.
