Give me Ridley, hold the Ripley, says Weaver

4 stars out of 5.0
Alien star Sigourney Weaver has expressed her desire to work with the director of the 1979 sci-fi nerve-shredder Ridley Scott - but the Alien Versus Predator films have "killed" any chances of her returning to the role of Ripley, according to reports.

Digital Spy says the 58-year-old actress, who appeared in three franchise sequels including 1986's Aliens and 1997's Alien: Resurrection, told MTV that she would "love to work with Ridley again" - and they have even had a chinwag about a possible storyline for another Alien instalment.

However, Weaver - whose other credits include Ghostbusters, Galaxy Quest and The Village - said Twentieth Century Fox's Alien Versus Predator and its sequel, the roundly-panned Alien Versus Predator: Requiem, had left the antisocial extra terrestrials with nowhere else to go.

"What else can you do with the creature?" she said.

According to the-numbers.com, the four films of the Alien franchise have grossed a total of over $877 million (£443 million) at the worldwide box office.
