Joey and Zooey head for Summer camp

3rd Rock From The Sun and 10 Things I Hate About You star Joseph Gordon-Levitt is to turn on the charms for Elf and Almost Famous star Zooey Dechanel in a new offbeat romantic comedy, 500 Days Of Summer, it has been revealed.

Showbiz newspaper Variety reports that the pair will headline the non-rom-com, with Gordon-Levitt playing a man who falls head-over-heels in love with Dechanel's character, who unfortunately for him does not believe in all that mumbo-jumbo.

They will be joined by a cast including Clark Gregg (We Were Soldiers), Minka Kelly (The Kingdom) and Matthew Gray Gubler (The Life Aquatic With Steve Zissou).

Music video director Marc Webb, who has shot promos for bands including Green Day, is behind the camera for the project, which began filming in Los Angeles earlier this week.

In related news, Dechanel is set to hit the big screen this summer in M Night Shyamalan's The Happening, as well as Jim Carrey comedy Yes Man, which is based on the book by journalist and Dave Gorman collaborator Danny Wallace.

Gordon-Levitt, meanwhile, is set to take up the role of hissy-fit throwing bad guy Cobra Commander in the new GI Joe movie - and he is also rumoured to be in the cast for the live-action adaptation of anime hit Akira.
