Van Helsing premieres in LA

The premiere of the highly anticipated blockbuster Van Helsing is being held at the Universal Amphitheatre in Los Angeles on Monday.

The film's heroine, British actress Kate Beckinsale, will attend the screening along with the film's eponymous hero played by Hugh Jackman and Cracker's Robbie Coltrane, who plays Mr Hyde.

There are high expectations for the film, which is directed by Stephen Sommers. Mr Sommers' previous projects include The Mummy and The Mummy Returns.

He is renowned for his use of special effects.

Van Helsing follows the adventures of a monter hunter on the trail of Dracula and opens in the UK on 7 May.
