James McAvoy: I'm not playing Bilbo

Brit actor James McAvoy has denied that he is to play Bilbo Baggins in the upcoming movie adaptation of the Hobbit.

McAvoy, who made his name in the TV show Shameless before hitting the big screen, has said that the rumours are "not true".

"It's all internet rumouring and nothing else I'm afraid. Sorry," he told the Guardian.

It was previously reported that the Last King Of Scotland star ws being considered for the part alongside Harry Potter actor Daniel Radcliffe and comedian Jack Black.

Guillermo del Toro has been named as the director of the project and will move to New Zealand for four years to devote himself to it, added the news provider.

Del Toro has also spoken out about the casting for the film, saying that the production team is undecided.

"It's down to a few names we all agree upon. For our first choice we all said the same name," he told the Glasgow Sunday Mail.

Sir Ian McKellen will reprise his role as Gandalf the Wizard in the new production.
