Incredible Hulk hits the top spot
Ed Norton plays scientist Bruce Banner in the sequel to Ang Lee's 2003 Hulk movie, with his character scouring Brazil for an antidote to the gamma poisoning which causes his transformation, some five years after the events in the original film.
The movie took a whopping £54 million (£27.9 million) in its opening weekend, knocking last week's number one Kung Fu Panda into second place.
M Night Shyamalan's latest chiller The Happening stands at third place on the chart, taking $30.5 million also in its first weekend.
Adam Sandler's new comedy You Don't Mess With Zohan slipped to fourth place, while Indiana Jones latest escapade completed the top five.
The latest Hulk movie has faced criticism from the American Medical Association recently, due to William Hurt's cigar-chomping character, reports the Guardian.
