Cohen to join Oscar panel
Sacha Baron Cohen has been invited to join the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.Academy president Sid Ganis said the artists on the panel are "incredibly talented" and a "credit to the world of filmmaking". Cohen, star of the massively successful Borat, will join Ray Winstone, Jet Li and French actress Marion Cotillard on the prestigious panel. Other actors who have received an invite include No Country for Old Men star Josh Brolin, and Alison Janney of the hit comedy Juno. A special event to be held in Beverley Hills in September will welcome all new members. "They exemplify the high standards of the academy and I welcome each and every one of them to our ranks," said Ganis. Borat, which Cohen co-wrote, was Oscar- nominated for best adapted screenplay.
