Streep blasts nip and tuck actors

4 stars out of 5.0
Meryl Streep has spoken out against the growing number of male actors in Hollywood who are having cosmetic surgery for the sake of their art.

The Oscar-winning actress has said such actors should make the best of their age, as the film industry is now offering roles with more depth to men of a certain age.

Actresses in Tinseltown have long gone under the knife in a bid to preserve their youth but the 59-year-old is concerned that the men seem to be adopting the trend.

"It's not just women. You'd be amazed how many men in this industry have gone down that road.

"I just don’t get it. I think you have to embrace getting older and celebrate life."

Streep admitted she used to worry that the industry would no longer offer her parts as she got older but said she feels "that's changing a little".

The Devil Wears Prada star can currently be seen in a singing role in Abba musical Mamma Mia!
