New Batman movie set to be a big hit
The latest Batman film is set to be a big hit with cinemas preparing for unprecedented demand from fans when it is released on Friday.Screenings of The Dark Night will be played in continuous 24-hour and 72-hour loops in some large-screen IMAX cinemas in the US, the Guardian reports. National radio reports have also revealed some multiplexes have planned screenings at 6am to deal with the high number of advance ticket sales. According to the newspaper, ticket sales for the film at the US's 94 IMAX cinemas have reached more than $2 million (£1 million). Launched in 2005, the first film in the series, Batman Begins, took $48.7 million in its first weekend and made at total of $371.9 million. The new film stars the late Heath Ledger, who plays the part of Batman's nemesis The Joker. Ledger died in January from an accidental prescription drug overdose at his apartment in New York.
