Cruise to take to the skies for Top Gun 2?

4 stars out of 5.0
Tom Cruise may be set to don the aviators and leather jacket in a sequel to the 1986 hit movie Top Gun, it has been reported.

A script outline has already been penned, but the project is largely dependant on the 46-year-old actor agreeing to reprise his role as ace pilot Maverick, reports the Sun.

Given the recent success of other 1980s franchises such as Indiana Jones and Rocky, movie bosses are keen to for Cruise to resurrect his character some 22 years after the original.

An insider commented: "The idea is Maverick is at the Top Gun school as an instructor - and this time it is he who has to deal with a cocky new female pilot."

In related news, it has been reported that Cruise is teaching his 13-year-old son Connor to fly.

The actor earned his pilot's license back in 1994 and often flies his family around in his private jet, reports Fametastic.
