Batman Begins voted 'best prequel ever'

The current blaze of publicity around The Dark Knight may have influenced film fans' decision a new poll - which sees Batman Begins named as the best prequel ever.

A new survey carried out by booking site Screenrush.co.uk to find the top prequel of all time saw Christopher Nolan's 2005 hit claim 48 per cent of the vote.

Indiana Jones And The Temple Of Doom came in second with with 27 per cent, while 13 per cent opted for recent James Bond hit Casino Royale.

Tom Swallow, spokesperson for Screenrush.co.uk, said: "Bad sequels often steal the limelight and tarnish the original film, being seen with a fair degree of cynicism as trying to cash in on a popular movie franchise.

"However, our survey found that prequels in general often exceed expectations and are even more loved than the movies they're meant to precede."

He noted that the results indicate that cinemagoers connect with movies which seek to "refresh the storyline" of the original.
