Kidman to star in action movie

Nicole Kidman is set to take the lead role in forthcoming action movie The Eighth Wonder, it has been confirmed.

The 20th Century Fox production – based on an archaeological discovery - is to be penned by Simon Kinberg, who worked with the Australian actress on an early version of Mr And Mrs Smith.

Kidman eventually had to be replaced by Angelina Jolie, but Kinberg was reportedly impressed with her suitability for such a role.

The pair have since been looking for a suitable project on which to collaborate, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

Kinberg's other credits include Jumper, X-Men: The Last Stand and the forthcoming Ben Stiller sequel Night at the Museum 2.

Kidman will next be seen on the big screen in Baz Luhrmann's romantic adventure Australia.

Elsewhere, Nicole was recently voted the most overpaid actress by Forbes magazine, following a string of box office flops.
